Goldberg Segalla was again included in the annual “Am Law 200” report released this week, identifying the largest U.S. law firms based on revenue and headcount.

In concert with publishing the 2025 Am Law 200 report, The American Lawyer ran an article conveying insights from Am Law 200 law firm leaders on how they attract and retain lawyers amid the “an ever-present war for talent within the legal industry.”

The main takeaway: Leveraging firm culture and professional development is key.

In the article, “Build and Invest-Not ‘Churn and Burn’-Are the Professional Development Keys to Outperforming the Market,” by Amanda O’Brien, Goldberg Segalla Hiring Partner, Management Committee member and Diversity Task Force Chair, Joseph M. Hanna, was asked about the firm’s approach to acquiring and retaining legal talent.

“As a recruiting strategy, when I make an offer for the firm, I want the attorney to be here for the rest of their career. We want to roll out the red carpet and invest in our lawyers, and that commitment has certainly helped in our retention,” Joe explains. “We have our highest attorney count that we’ve ever had. We’re focusing on growth and this professional development piece of that has helped.”

Additionally, Joe highlights a newer programming investment made by Goldberg Segalla that provides networking training to attorneys.
