Joseph M. Hanna, co-chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Retail and Hospitality and Sports and Entertainment practices, is being recognized on the Inspiration Honor Roll at the celebration for the George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards as someone who has created positive change and tackled unique challenges in his community. The celebration honors extraordinary individuals who demonstrate the traits of 41st-president George H.W. Bush with their integrity, empathy, respect, optimism, and conviction.

Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, is honoring Joe for his work with Bunkers in Baghdad. Joe founded the charity in 2008 to collect and ship golf equipment to our troops, veterans, and warriors around the world. To date, Bunkers in Baghdad has collected and shipped 11 million golf balls and 850,000 golf clubs to active-duty troops and recovering veterans in all 50 states and in more than 70 countries around the world. As president of Bunkers in Baghdad, Joe orchestrates the collection efforts and personally boxes and ships the golf balls and equipment. He also launched a Bunkers Buddies program that has connected the charity to thousands of school children across the U.S., who offer their support by writing letters and packing golf balls.

The second annual celebration of the George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards will be livestreamed on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
