Goldberg Segalla partner Seth L. Laver has accepted an appointment to serve as vice chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Professional Liability Insurance General Committee (PLIC).

The role will involve planning, organization, and leadership related to events, networking, substantive committee meetings and programs, and general administration of the 11,000-member group, as well as assistance with and presence at the virtual TIPS Fall Leadership Meeting on October 7-10, 2020, and at the TIPS Section Conference on April 28 to May 1, 2021, in Washington, D.C.

The appointment recognizes Seth’s “competence and experience, commitment to TIPS, and reputation among the 11,000 members of TIPS,” section Chair John C. McMeekin II said.

“I am honored to be appointed as vice chair of this thriving committee,” Seth said. “The PLIC reaches so many practitioners, both attorneys and industry professionals, so our actions can have immediate and widespread impact. I look forward to helping to build the ABA’s professional liability brand through new ideas, new connections, and new resources.”

Seth, a partner in Goldberg Segalla’s Philadelphia office, is a member of the firm’s Management and Professional Liability practice, and focuses on defending attorneys, accountants, and other professionals in litigation and counseling them on comprehensive risk avoidance. He also defends employers in employment practices liability (EPL) and other types of employment-related litigation. Admitted in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and regularly retained to counsel clients across the country, Seth is deeply engaged with the professional liability insurance, legal, and risk management community at the national level. A longtime ABA member, Seth also serves as chair of the TIPS PLIC Financial Services Subcommittee. In addition, he served from 2017–19 as chair of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Professional Liability Committee.
