With significant experience in both law and healthcare, Hazel Estwick-Hurley brings a unique and powerful perspective to defending employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in complex workers’ compensation cases. Her dual background as Corporate Counsel and Registered Nurse enables her to craft highly informed and strategic legal defenses.

Hazel excels at bridging the gap between medical evidence and legal argumentation. Her clinical training and legal acumen allow her to efficiently analyze intricate medical records, assess causation and standards of care, and uncover inconsistencies that can strengthen the defense.

As Corporate Counsel for a U.S. insurance provider specializing in commercial and personal auto, workers’ compensation, and homeowners’ coverage, Hazel led the evaluation of workers’ compensation claims, identified potential fraud, advised cross-functional teams including claims and underwriting, negotiated pre-trial settlements, and successfully litigated more than 200 workers’ compensation cases.

Hazel also trained and served as a Registered Nurse, where she assessed patients’ physical and mental health, developed individualized care plans, and provided direct medical and post-surgical care in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals.
