Collaborative Culture and Shared Commitment to Excellence Attracts Top Legal Talent to Growing Employment and Labor Practice

As the national demand for sophisticated employment and labor counsel continues to rise, Goldberg Segalla has answered the call in 2025, focusing on adding highly skilled attorneys who share our client-first approach to legal service and determination to maintain a collaborative workplace culture. Over the course of the year, Goldberg Segalla has welcomed ten outstanding attorneys to our growing Employment and Labor practice – enhancing our ability to deliver exceptional service and results to our valued clients.

One of our newest Employment and Labor partners in our Manhattan office, Claudia A. Costa, has been excited to be part of a team of collaborative colleagues who are committed to having the client and one another’s backs.

“I’m thrilled to be here at Goldberg Segalla,” Claudia said. “At this point, I wanted to find a group of people who were of the like mind, in that we want to provide not only a great legal defense to clients, but also counseling and guidance, because the landscape in employment law changes very rapidly. To have such a great group and team behind you is really what I was looking for, and I think I found it here.”

Christopher P. Maugans serves as vice chair of Goldberg Segalla’s nationwide Employment and Labor practice group, and he echoed Claudia’s sentiments, saying, “Our team is truly built on support for each other. There is a tremendous spirit of camaraderie and collaboration as opposed to competition, and that allows for a client-centric culture to blossom. With the amount of opportunity and support we have incorporated into our practice, Goldberg Segalla is a great place for an attorney to deepen their existing client relationships and to build new ones.”

While the culture of any firm is essential to success and longevity, Goldberg Segalla has also earned a national reputation for excellence in the employment and labor space due to our vigorous defense strategies and proactive counsel.

“Many of our employment litigation clients find us through their carrier when there is a claim, which is often the beginning of a long relationship where we stay connected as their legal counsel for developing optimal strategies for ongoing risk mitigation and crisis diffusion,” said Employment and Labor practice group co-chair Caroline Berdzik. “As our reputation has grown, so too must our team. We have been delighted to welcome so many talented and highly regarded attorneys who are excited to be a part of a team culture that prioritizes collaboration over competition.”

Partners: Andrew B. Adair, Claudia A. Costa, Rufus A. Jennings, Edward J. Murphy Jr., Christine D. Steere
