Joseph M. Hanna Discusses Sports and Betting Cases to Watch In 2020
Joseph M. Hanna, chair of the firm’s Sports and Entertainment and Retail and Hospitality groups, was quoted in an article for Law360 discussing the sports and betting cases to watch for in the new year.
In “Sports & Betting Cases to Watch in 2020,” Joe talks about the U.S. Department of Justice’s rejection of the Wire Act, which prohibits interstate gambling beyond sports betting. He also talks about the ongoing battle between the city of St. Louis and the Los Angeles Rams over the team’s relocation and how it will have an impact on all major sport leagues.
“This case will be especially interesting to follow considering its widespread implications. With the Rams, Chargers and Raiders recently moving, along with numerous teams across the NFL, NHL, NBA and MLB rumored to soon be on the move, the outcome of this case could have teams and owners second-guessing any relocation.”
