Goldberg Segalla Expands Capabilities in Northern and Central Florida with Four Orlando-Based Litigators

Goldberg Segalla is pleased to announce the addition of four new attorneys in the firm’s Orlando office—partners R. Gavin Mackinnon and Michael J. Rigelsky and associates Gregory E. Jordan and Miraj M. Shah. These attorneys broaden the firm’s capabilities throughout Northern and Central Florida, and bring deep experience in key sectors including transportation and construction. The group joins the firm from Kelley Kronenberg.

“Goldberg Segalla took steps to adapt its plans and operations at the very onset of the pandemic, which translated into a strong 2020,” said Christopher J. Belter, chief operating officer of Goldberg Segalla and chair of the firm’s Construction group. “Florida is one of the next steps in our plan to advance an industry-focused growth strategy across our key markets. Gavin and his team complement our broad range of expertise in the construction industry throughout the state of Florida.”

“Our transportation practice grew in 2020 with new hires in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, and we are starting 2021 strong with new partners in California (Haasty S. Burns) and Maryland, and with Gavin and his team in Florida,” said Robert M. Hanlon Jr., co-chair of the firm’s Transportation group. “Our 50+ attorney practice group is equipped to address the wide variety of challenges faced by those in the transportation industry. Consistent with that, Gavin’s team has represented motor carriers in negligence actions, manufacturers in product liability cases, and insurance providers in coverage disputes. And they have the courtroom skills and experience needed to try cases to verdict. I am excited for them to join us and support our clients in Central and Northern Florida.”

“Goldberg Segalla has an excellent reputation nationally and across Florida,” said Mackinnon. “We’re thrilled to be joining the great professionals on this team, and look forward to working together to build upon the distinct and dynamic client services they offer.”

R. Gavin Mackinnon is a trial attorney with over two decades of experience handling transportation, construction, and general liability matters in state and federal courts throughout Florida and Illinois. He also concentrates a portion of his practice in complex commercial litigation involving contract disputes, business torts, and commercial land and lease disputes. Mackinnon received his bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and his juris doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Michael J. Rigelsky is an experienced litigator and counselor to a variety of private companies and insurance carriers involving trucking, transportation, construction, product liability, commercial litigation, and general liability matters in state and federal courts throughout Florida.
