Goldberg Segalla added Bryan Strand to the firm’s Workers’ Compensation practice group in Chicago.

Bryan focuses his practice on complex workers’ compensation matters and brings extensive experience advising local government entities on a wide range of issues, including human resources, labor and employment, real estate, and compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Open Meeting Act (OMA). He has also represented public safety union members in collective bargaining and arbitration, as well as in disciplinary and discharge proceedings before fire and police commissions and merit commissions under the Illinois Uniform Peace Officers’ Disciplinary Act (UPODA) and Firemen’s Disciplinary Act (FDA). In addition, Bryan has served as general counsel to police and firefighter pension fund boards, advising on pension fund administration.

Before entering the legal profession, Bryan served nearly two decades as a decorated law enforcement officer with various Illinois state, county, and local agencies, giving him a deep understanding of the inner workings of municipalities and civil service organizations.

Bryan earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University and his J.D. from the Marquette University Law School.
