Goldberg Segalla’s Jennifer B. Santoro Appointed to International Commission on Healthcare Certification’s Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Board of Directors

Jennifer B. Santoro

Jennifer B. Santoro has been appointed to the International Commission on Healthcare Certification’s (ICHCC) Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Board of Directors. She is one of only two attorneys on the Board.

The ICHCC is a global organization dedicated to overseeing the examination of health care providers and professionals in the specialty rehabilitative areas of life care planning, Medicare Set-Aside (MSA) allocation development, and geriatric care management. Jennifer and her fellow board members will be tasked with responsibilities such as overseeing practitioners working under this certification, drafting the certification exam, setting ethics and other practice standards, assessing and managing CLE requirements, and determining other general requirements to obtain and maintain certification.

Prior to her appointment, Jennifer received her certification as a Medicare Set-Aside Consultant through the organization. She has years of experience calculating MSAs, applying for approval, and investigating conditional payments, and frequently lectures and publishes on the subject. In addition to serving as co-leader of Goldberg Segalla’s Illinois Workers’ Compensation team, Jennifer is also co-chair of the firm’s nationwide Medicare Compliance practice, a subgroup of the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group.

Developing and implementing the right strategy for each individual case requires an intimate knowledge of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) pre-approval process as well as proper negotiations with CMS. The firm’s Medicare Set-Asides subgroup tackles MSAs proactively, making a significant difference in obtaining a lower settlement cost.
