Joseph M. Hanna Recognized by Buffalo Business First in the Power 100 Business Leaders of Color

Buffalo Business First has recognized Goldberg Segalla attorney Joseph M. Hanna in the inaugural Power 100 Business Leaders of Color list. The list is comprised of the most powerful business leaders of color in Buffalo. Joe is the founder and chair of the firm’s Diversity Task Force, is the firm’s hiring partner, and sits on the firm’s management committee.  He also chairs the firm’s Retail and Hospitality and Sports and Entertainment Law groups.

In 2020, Joe received the IDEA Award by Buffalo Business First, given to individuals and organizations who champion diversity and inclusion in the workplace and surrounding communities. This year, Joe was named a 2022 Northeast Trailblazer by The American Lawyer and is identified as an “agent of change who has made significant marks on practice, policy, and technological advancements in his area of legal practice.” Additionally, he received the 2022 New York Law Journal Distinguished Leader Award, an honor that recognizes attorneys in leadership roles who achieved impressive results in the past year while demonstrating clear leadership skills leading to positive outcomes.

Joseph M. Hanna is Goldberg Segalla’s hiring partner, a position in which he spearheads the firm’s continuing commitment to increase diversity in the hiring and promotion process and leads the search for attorneys who best fit the culture of teamwork and collaboration.  He is a member of Goldberg Segalla’s five-person Management Committee that oversees client service, culture, investment and strategic growth. As founder and chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Diversity Task Force, he is dedicated to developing diversity programs and amplifying diverse voices in decision-making at the highest level. Joe is considered a leading voice for diversity in the legal and business communities and has held multiple positions with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, as well as diversity-related leadership roles with groups including the American Bar Association. A commercial litigator and legal adviser, he is nationally recognized for his work in retail and hospitality, and sports and entertainment law.
