Experience
Bryan Strand focuses his practice on complex workers’ compensation matters and brings extensive experience advising local government entities on a wide range of issues, including human resources, labor and employment, real estate, and compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Open Meeting Act (OMA). Bryan has also represented public safety union members in collective bargaining and arbitration, as well as in disciplinary and discharge proceedings before fire and police commissions and merit commissions under the Illinois Uniform Peace Officers’ Disciplinary Act (UPODA) and Firemen’s Disciplinary Act (FDA). In addition, he has served as general counsel to police and firefighter pension fund boards, advising on pension fund administration.
Before entering the legal profession, Bryan served nearly two decades as a decorated law enforcement officer with various Illinois state, county, and local agencies, giving him a deep understanding of the inner workings of municipalities and civil service organizations.
