Experience
Randee E. Schmittdiel dedicates her practice to counseling and defending insurers, employers, and third-party administrators in complex workers compensation claims. For 20 years, she was in-house counsel for a major insurance company, where she worked hand in hand with the Claims Department overseeing workers’ compensation matters across the states of Missouri and Illinois. This included handling case assessments, settlement recommendations, claims review, and client relation meetings. In addition, Randee was involved in all aspects of claims handling, including investigating claims and counseling claims adjusters, managers, and insureds to produce the best claims outcome. She also has experience training claims adjusters in Missouri and Illinois workers’ compensation law and claims handling. Randee has tried and mediated hundreds of cases before the Division of Workers’ Compensation in Missouri and the Industrial Commission in Illinois. She has argued numerous cases before the Missouri and Illinois Appellate Courts. As in-house counsel, Randee also has experience assisting the Subrogation Department in recovery work, working closely with the Special Investigation Unit investigating workers’ compensation fraud, and assisting nurse case managers with medical management issues.
