Experience
Christian K. Kotila focuses his practice on workers’ compensation defense, representing insurance carriers, employers, and third-party administrators in all stages of a claim, from initial file review through resolution. He works closely with clients to develop effective litigation strategies and defense plans designed to efficiently manage claims, control costs, and support long-term risk management objectives.
Christian has significant experience handling workers’ compensation matters before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. He has served as both first-chair and second-chair counsel in arbitration hearings and regularly manages discovery, conducts depositions, prepares cases for trial, and negotiates settlements. He collaborates with clients, opposing counsel, medical providers, and expert witnesses to develop practical solutions and achieve favorable outcomes in complex workers’ compensation matters.
In addition to his litigation experience, Christian is committed to helping clients navigate evolving issues in workers’ compensation law. He has presented an accredited Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program on the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Fee Schedule, providing legal and practical guidance to attorneys and industry professionals.
While earning his Juris Doctor, Christian gained valuable experience as a law clerk in private practice and as a student attorney with the Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic. In that role, he represented clients under attorney supervision, including assisting individuals with Social Security Disability Insurance applications and related matters.
