Goldberg Segalla partner Esther F. Omoloyin is stepping up as co-chair of the firm’s national Workers’ Compensation practice. Along with co-chairs Damon M. Gruber and Sean J. McKinley, Esther will manage the firm’s fastest-growing practice, with nearly 120 attorneys practicing in 10 states.

“It has been impressive to see the workers’ compensation group grow under the leadership of Damon and Sean,” Esther said. “They welcomed me into the GS community with open arms seven years ago and gave me the support and empowerment I needed to help grow the New Jersey workers’ compensation team. I am honored to join them as co-chair of the national practice and I look forward to working together to continue growing the practice nationally.”

Esther was born in Ibadan, Nigeria before immigrating to the United States. She earned her B.A. at Rutgers University Business School and her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and clerked with the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division before entering private practice.

Esther joined Goldberg Segalla in 2013—she was the firm’s 180th lawyer, its ninth workers’ compensation attorney, and the first workers’ compensation attorney hired in New Jersey.

“I came because I needed a change,” Esther said. “I stayed because the firm meant what it claimed about teamwork. I was surrounded by so many great human beings who were also top-notch attorneys. It only took me a few months to realize I had a found my forever home.”

Esther was tasked with bringing the firm’s fast growing workers’ compensation practice into the New Jersey market. As leader of the practice in New Jersey, Esther quickly built a team that expanded to include 10 attorneys dedicated to workers’ compensation based in the firm’s Princeton and Newark offices, counseling employers and insurers and litigating matters in every workers’ compensation vicinage in the state. Esther also authored Goldberg Segalla’s New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Manual for Employers and Carriers, and became a trusted partner to numerous national and international employers and carriers with operations in New Jersey.

Esther also contributed to the team effort that went into growing the practice nationally. Today, Goldberg Segalla’s Workers’ Compensation group comprises nearly 120 attorneys based in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, and California. Working collaboratively across this national footprint, the Workers’ Compensation practice serves many of the nation’s largest employers and carriers, handling all claims across multiple states, and advising on enterprise-wide risk-management.

“We are thrilled to have Esther join us as a co-chair of the Workers’ Compensation group,” said Damon. “Esther has been a driving force behind our growth and success for many years and nobody is more deserving than her. I am tremendously proud to call her my partner, co-chair, and friend.”

“Esther is the finest person I know,” Sean added. “She possess elite leadership skills by combining an intense work ethic with a sensitivity to the needs of those on her team. Every moment that Esther has been with the Workers’ Compensation group has made us better, since she joined as an associate in 2013 to today, when she steps up as co-chair.”

In addition to co-chairing the national Workers’ Compensation practice and continuing to lead the New Jersey team, Esther serves on Goldberg Segalla’s Diversity Task Force. She has earned recognition outside the firm, named to the New Jersey Super Lawyers list every year since 2015, and honored as a New Jersey Trailblazer in the New Jersey Law Journal in 2019.
