Experience
Michael T. Glascott focuses his practice on complex insurance coverage, bad faith, commercial litigation, tort, and New York Labor Law litigation. Mike counsels and represents insurers in courts throughout New York and other northeastern states.
Mike gained extensive trial experience as an assistant district attorney for the County of Erie, where he prosecuted to verdict a variety of criminal matters, including homicides. He has also successfully defended personal injury claims and represented clients in commercial litigation matters during his time with private firms in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Buffalo, New York.
Since 2003, Mike has been a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), a membership which is granted by invitation only following an extensive peer-review selection process, and is limited to 1,200 of the top defense attorneys in the country. Mike’s high-profile participation in the international organization – founded on the principles of knowledge, justice, and fellowship – includes previous leadership positions as president, president-elect, secretary-treasurer, senior director, director, chair of the Membership Development and Retention Committee, chair of the Insurance Coverage Section, and chair of the Insurance Industry Committee. In 2016 Mike received the Joseph R. Olshan Award in recognition of his outstanding dedication to the organization following his leadership with the FDCC Advance Committee. He also received the FDCC Connect award in 2017 and the John Alan Appleman Award in 2012 for his service as chair of the FDCC’s Insurance Coverage Section.
Highly regarded among his colleagues, Mike possesses an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest available rating. The Best Lawyers in America regularly selects him for inclusion in the Insurance Law category, including naming Mike the Lawyer of the Year for Insurance Law in Buffalo in both 2022 and 2024. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel.
