Esther F. Omoloyin Discusses Elevation to Co-Chair of Workers’ Compensation Practice with NJBIZ and Claims Journal

In an interview with NJBIZ, Goldberg Segalla’s Esther F. Omoloyin discusses what she’s looking forward to in her new role as co-chair of the firm’s national Workers’ Compensation practice and her diversity plans for 2021.

Esther, who is now one of the firm’s youngest co-chairs nationally, will work alongside co-chairs Damon M. Gruber and Sean J. McKinley to manage the firm’s fastest-growing practice, with nearly 120 attorneys practicing in 10 states. In her new role, she will work with partners across the group’s footprint to counsel and defend clients in wide range of industries, including retail and hospitality, transportation, construction, professional organizations, and staffing agencies.

“I like partnering with employers to make sure that claimants who are entitled to benefits get those benefits, and maybe those who are trying to get around the system are prevented from doing so,” she said to NJBIZ. “But it’s more than just enjoying a specific area of law. You have to enjoy the people you work with. The people I work with are a big part of why I do what I do.”

Esther is also a member of the firm’s Diversity Task Force and shared that she has big plans for 2021.

“The diversity push is big, even with our clients,” she said to NJBIZ. “You hear and see a lot of employers demand that their legal team be diverse. If you take workers’ compensation, someone from a diverse background, whether it’s place of birth, or ethnicity, will bring a different level of understanding to a claimant that others may not understand in terms of perhaps developing a strategy to come to a resolution.”
